Bird Species

For conservation week we were out looking for birds or evidence that birds had been to our school. We saw a lot of different bird species and a couple that was native. In total, we found 56 birds and 1 nest.

Over a two day period, we were looking at birds in and around Kohimarama School.  The following table show how many bird species we found and the number of those birds.  we found 6 species and one nest. We found 36 sparrows! That was the most in the tally charts 2nd was seagulls with 5 3rd crows with 4 4th tuis, blackbirds and pigeons tied at 3! And then 5th was the spotted bird and one we don’t know the name of.

In conclusion, this is for conversation week, we think that there are a lot of birds that live in kohimarama school,(56 birds and one nest) and most of the birds are fully protected like the tui.
